AUTONOMOUS ADMINISTRATION FOR NUCLEAR ACTIVITY

RAAN was established pursuant to Romanian Government at Decision no. 365/02.07.1998 as a National Authority having a special profile in the nuclear domain.

RAAN has as main business activity heavy water production and its related products; thermal and electric power for industry and domestic use, as well as engineering assistance for nuclear units and nuclear research.

Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activities (R.A.A.N.) is a National Authority of strategical concern that has been established in 1998. It comprises four subsidiaries with nuclear profile.

RAAN is performing its activity based on its own financial resources, except for basic research activity that is financial supported by grant-in aids.

In 2001, with a patrimony of Miliards Lei 948, RAAN has reached a turnover of Miliards Lei 2792.

During June 2001, first heavy water exportation has been performed to South Korea.

In 2001, RAAN has been lisetd among the first 35 national  companies as regarding the turnover.

In February 2002, ROMATOM granted the “Nuclear Excellence Award” to RAAN.

• multipurpose designer and specific designerfor Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant, 5 x 700 MW; for Nuclear Fuel Factory at Piteşti; and for Heavy Water Plant at Drobeta Turnu Severin;
• developing and adopting of new technologies for radioactive waste treatment, for synthetical produced uranium dioxide power, etc.
